Ha Long Bay, Hoi An ancient town, and Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park have been included among the 16 most-popular UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Southeast Asia by leading UK-based travel magazine Wanderlust.

Experts have recently shared information, policies and experience regarding the role of central and local management agencies and businesses in tourism management at the UNESCO-recognised heritage sites, including Vietnam's Trang An Landscape Complex - a World Cultural and Natural Heritage Site - in Ninh Binh province.

Thanh Hoa and Ninh Binh provinces held a ceremony on June 25 in the former's Sam Son city to launch a brand-new tour linking heritage sites in both localities.

Experts gathered at seminar in the northern province of Ninh Binh on October 2 to share experiences on the management, conservation and promotion of world heritage sites in Vietnam.

The central province of Quang Nam's People's Committee on August 21 organized a press conference announcing activities on the celebration of the 20th anniversary of recognition of Hoi An ancient town and My Son Sanctuary as UNESCO World Heritage Sites and the 10th anniversary of recognition of Cham Islands as the World Biosphere Reserve by the UNESCO.

Quang Ninh, Ninh Binh and Thanh Hoa are potential provinces with many advantages for tourism development thanks to their beautiful natural landscape, many national-scaled and international-scaled relic sites. These three localities are well-known destinations in Vietnam's tourism map, with famous World Heritage Sites recognized by UNESCO, including Ha Long Bay (in Quang Ninh), Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex (in Ninh Binh) and Citadel of the Ho Dynasty in Thanh Hoa.

The US newspaper Newsweek has listed Ha Long Bay of Vietnam among the Top 100 most beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Sites, which include both natural and man-made wonders.

Ha Long and Trang An are two of Vietnam's most beautiful landscapes recognised by Unesco as World Heritage Sites. With picturesque natural sceneries plus low costs, Ha Long tours and Trang An tours have caught the fancy of many tourists. Tour bookings for May Day holidays have risen 20 - 30 per cent from a year ago.

The launch of the National Tourism Year 2015 will be held in mid March 2015 in Thanh Hoa province with a focus on connecting world heritage sites.

A network of various world heritage sites across the nation should act as the basis for Vietnam to develop its tourism sector, helping to turn the country into an attractive tourist centre in Asia.
